Smiles Change Lives connects Dr. Elchahal & Associates with
Children in Need

Smiles Change Lives (SCL) is a national charity that provides affordable orthodontic care for low-income families. Since 1997, SCL has changed the lives and smiles of more that 1,500 children in partnership with hundreds of dedicated orthodontists who donate their time and expertise to the program.

SCL currently has 900 immediate opening for children who meet the following guidelines:

• Youth ages 10-18, not already wearing braces
• Children with a crooked teeth and/or misaligned jaws
• Taxable family income at or below 200% of Federal Poverty Level

Patients who meet these guildelines will attend an orthodontic screening, and if approved for the program, will pay $500 as a program fee. SCL will match each child with an SCL procider in their community for full orthodontic treatment.

"Before I had braces, I avoided talking to people and never let anyone take my puicture," shared Cindi, a new SCL participant. "Not that I have them on, I feel like I can talk to anyone and they're not staring at my crooked teeth. they're really looking at me!"

SCL is also actively recruiting orthodontists to provide care to qualified, motivated children in their community. "We're always searching for ways to find the kids who most need braces so they don't fall through the crac ks," asserts Andrea Umbreit, Director of Marketing and Communications for SCL. "It's our job to try to help as many kids as we can and recruit the caring orthodontists who help transform their smiles."
